AstraZeneka ispituje lijek protiv korone koji može zamijeniti vakcinu
Terapija antitijelima mogla bi, kako su saopštili iz kompanije Astra Zeneka, zamijeniti vakicnu kod osoba sa slabijim imunim odgovorom.
Kasna istraživačka faza studije kompanije AstraZeneke upućuje na to da nova terapija antitijelima smanjuje rizik od razvoja simptoma kovida-19 među populacijom za 77 odsto, što ovoj farmaceutskoj kompaniji omogućuje da ponudi zaštitu i osobama koje lošije reaguju na vakcinu.
Kompanija je u petak saopštila da je 75 odsto učesnika istraživanja, a riječ je o terapiji sa dva tipa antitijela koju je razvio Univerzitetski medicinski centar Vanderbilt, bolovalo od nekih hroničnih stanja, među kojima je i slabija imunska reakcija na vakcinu.
Slične terapije, utemeljene na vrsti ljekova poznatoj pod nazivom monoklonska antitijela, koja oponašaju prirodno prisutne proteine imunog sistema, razvijaju Regeneron, Eli Lilly i GlaxoSmithKline s partnerom Virom.
Međutim, AstraZeneka je prva objavila pozitivne rezultate istraživanja u prevenciji kovida novom terapijom antitijelima.
Izvršni direktor AstraZeneke Mene Pangalos kazao je da su rezultati ispitivanja terapije proučeni i objavljeni tri mjeseca nakon ubrizgavanja antitijela, te da će naučnici nastaviti istraživanja i u narednih 15 mjeseci u nadi da će vakcina moći da zaštiti vakcinisane do godinu dana.
Pangalos je rekao i da bi novi AstraZenekin lijek protiv kovida-19 mogao da poveća stratešku vrijednost postojeće vakcine Vaxzevrije, razvijene u saradnji sa Univerzitetom u Oksfordu.
Anglošvedski proizvođač ljekova naišao je na probleme u proizvodnji tokom uvođenja Vaxzevrije (ranijeg naziva kovid-19 vakcine AstraZeneka), a vrlo rijetki slučajevi zgrušavanja krvi veopma loše su uticali na potražnju za ovom vakcinom u Evropi. U Sjedinjenim Državama nije ni dobilo odobrenje regulatornih tijela.
