Danas je Ognjena Marija, zaštitnica žena: Ove DVIJE stvari treba da izbjegavate
Danas se proslavlja praznik Svete velikomučenice Marine, u narodu poznate kao Ognjena Marija. U narodu se vjeruje da se danas ne smije “ni konac u iglu udjenuti”, ali treba izbjegavati i još neke, ljeti omiljene radnje.
Praznik ove svetiteljke proslavlja se 30. jula, nije crvenim slovom obilježen u crkvenom kalendaru, ali je izuzetno poštovan u srpskom narodu, naročito među ženama.
U tradiciji Sveta Marina je predstavljena kao sestra Svetog Ilije, čiji se dan proslavlja 2. avgusta. Prema predanju, ona od brata krije kada je njegov praznik da se on ne bi od sreće i slavlja zaboravio i gromovima uništio cio svijet. Ali i Marija pali i kažnjava ognjem, po čemu je i dobila naziv Ognjena. Zato se danas ništa ne radi, ni u kući, ni u polju, u narodu je poznata zabrana “ni konac u iglu udenuti”. Ako se ovo ne ispoštuje, vjeruje se da će se tako svetiteljka uvrijediti, pa će poslati vatru i gromove. Postoji poslovica koja kaže: “Ko slavi Ognjenu Mariju, siguran je u ljetinu!”
Narodno predanje pamti mnoge nesrećne slučajeve koji su se dogodili na današnji dan, kada su se plivači udavili u rijekama i jezerima. Zato se vjeruje da na Ognjenu Mariju treba izbjegavati kupanje u “velikim vodama”. I pored ljetnje žege, osvježenje u bazenima, rijekama i drugim većim vodama treba ostaviti za sjutrašnji dan.
