Međunarodni dan sjećanja na katastrofu u nuklearnoj centrali u Černobilju 1986. godine, biće obilježen danas širom svijeta.
Eksplozija u nuklearnoj elektrani u Černobilju u Ukrajini, poslala je radioaktivni oblak preko velikih djelova Sovjetskog Saveza, današnjih teritorija Ukrajine, Rusije i Bjelorusije, a radijaciji je u tim zemljama bilo izloženo gotovo 8,4 miliona ljudi.
Do nesreće je došlo prilikom testiranja bezbjednosti reaktora u slučaju nestanka struje.
U samoj eksploziji je poginulo dvoje ljudi, a u kasnijim danima, mjesecima i godinama od akutnih posljedica radijacije i raka umrlo je još nekoliko desetina.
Obližnji grad Pripjat je potpuno napušten.
UN su 2016. proglasile 26. april Međunarodnim danom sjećanja na katastrofu u Černobilju, a nacionalni memorijal ustanovljen je i u Rusiji i Bjelorusiji.
