„Plavci” i „slijepi miševi” su rutinski odradili posao u revanšima, jer su nakon pobjeda u gostima savladali Slaviju iz Praga (4:3), odnosno Viljareal (2:0) i pred svojim navijačima.
U derbiju četvrtfinala, Arsenal je i drugi put za sedam dana savladao Napoli. Nakon 2:0 na „Emirejtsu”, večeras je tim specijaliste za Ligu Evrope, Unaija Emerija, osvojio i Napulj golom Aleksandra Lazaketa u 36. minutu iz slobodnog udarca i izborio duele sa Valensijom.
Na megdan Čelsiju će Ajntraht, koji je nadoknadio minus iz Lisabona (2:4) i pobjedom nad Benfikom (2:0) stigao do najvećeg uspjeha u Evropi od 1980. godine, kada je osvojio UEFA kup.
Njemci su, međutim, imali i pomoć sudija, jer je Filip Kostić gol za vođstvo u 37. minutu postigao iz ofsajda. Benfika je nakon toga imala više šansi, ali je pogodio samo Sebastijan Rode u 67. i donio veliku radost navijačima.
Gosti iz Portugala su mogli do polufinala, ali je rezervista Eduardo Salvio u 85. minutu pogodio stativu.
