On se za Olimpijske igre pripremao u Crnoj Gori, u Boki Kotorskoj, a tu je stigao odmah po osvajanju –Vimblondona i svog dvadesetog gren slema.
“Najljepši mogući način da odem iz Beograda uz ovoliku podršku medija i svog naroda. Imam najviše ambicije, idem na zlato, to nije tajna. To je veliki cilj, velika ambicija još prije početka ove sezone, četiri grend slema i medalja na OI“, rekao je Đoković na konferenciji za medije pred polazak za Tokio.
“Priprema nije nekonvencionalna, kako možda djeluje. Svakako nije sve idealno, ali pokušavam da izvučem maksimalno iz situacije. Ja nisam samo teniser, ja sam i otac i muž, moram i porodici da se posvetim, ali pokušao sam da se pripremim na najbolji mogući način i mislim da sam uspio”, kazao je Novak pred odlazak. Istakao je da je imao dosta mečeva, tako da ide Tokio sa velikim samopouzdanjem.
Podsjetio je da učestvuje u individualnom sportu, a da su rijetke prilike da učestvujem u timskom takmičenju.
“Imao sam sreću da osvojim Dejvis kup, ali mi zaista fali zlatna medalja na Olimpijskim igrama” dodao je Nole.
