Vašington post javlja da je policija naredila evakuaciju dvije zgrade kampusa i saopštila da je do sada uhapšeno deset Trampovih pristalica, među kojima je vođa ultradesničarske organizacije “Ponosni momci”.
“Trampove pristalice srušile su četiri sloja sigurnosne ograde i pokušavaju da uđu u zgradu Kapitola. Ovo je najluđa stvar koju sam vidio u životu. Hiljade demonstranata, policija ih ne može zaustaviti”, napisao je reporter Elajdža Šafer komentarišući trenutnu situaciju u Vašingtonu.

U toku je sjednica Kongresa na kojoj se potvrđuju glasovi elektorskog koledža za predsjednika i potpredsjednika Sjedinjenih Američkih Država. Ukupno 535 članova Kongresa, koji čine Senat i Predstavnički dom, zasijedanje su počeli u jedan sat poslije podne po lokalnom vremenu, što je oko 19 sati po našem. Sjednicom predsjedava aktuelni potpredsjednik države i predsjedavajući Senata Majk Pens.
Američki predsjednik Donald Tramp je ranije danas na skupu svojih pristalica poručio da nikada neće priznati pobjedu na predsjedničkim izborima 2020. godine novoizabranom predsjedniku Džou Bajdenu, tvrdeći još jednom da je na izborima došlo do velike prevare birača.
